It seemed like a fun, educational toy for the few days she got to enjoy it. Most children's toys have a screw on the battery compartment, but this one did not. My 3-year old daughter quickly broke off the cover and pulled the batteries out.
I've had to put it away for the time being because of this. My almost 3 year old is quite capable of removing the cover and batteries. This toy is decent for the price. My biggest gripe is that the battery compartment does not screw on.
I have seen more confidence and less frustration in how he expresses himself with art now, let alone his writing has improved. it's worth ever penny and more and has served it's purpose so well in my opinion. Purchased the Write & Learn for my 4 year old son to help his writing skills in a fun interactive way and have been very happy with the results. Great practice for school right here and at such a value. :) It holds his attention longer then schooling him with our books and he even uses it on his own. i also like the art function that teaches him to draw certain words.
It is nice and compact to bring in the car with your child and my son really enjoys it. It is pretty cool. I love that the little writing "pencil" easily goes back in it's slot using a magnet. I bought this for my 3 year old at Christmas. Highly recommend. It does lots of stuff. It was one of the less expensive ones I bought, yet my son LOVES it and has played with it for a while now. It teaches you how to draw letters and objects that start with all the letters.
It not only teaches letters, but encourages the kids to draw objects too, like a queen and an igloo. It helped him develop an interest in drawing and writing that he did not have before (due to his lack of fine motor control). Awesome toy. My developmentally disabled 6 year old LOVES this toy. He got it last Christmas, it has been used and abused and still works like new.
